Coloring Contest

One of our favorite activities is running a coloring contest where kids can design the next card we make fore the Reading Dragons. I highly recommend doing this if you are able to create your own cards at your library.
The goal is to bring your library kids' creations to life and create a card or card set that can be shared with everyone.

Typically when we run the contest we have the kids create designs for one or two creatures, not all of them. For example we might do a Sphynx contest, and print out the Adult Sphynx coloring page to give out. We do not print out all of the stages or all of the creatures for the contest, because that would be too overwhelming.
Keep it simple and make your instructions clear.
What creature(s) will you use for the contest?
How many winners will you have?
Will the winner(s) idea be made into a single card or a whole set?
When is the deadline for entries?
How will you choose a winner?
Make your choices based on what is feasible for you to recreate digitally in the time you have.
I am including a pdf and a Canva template link of the contest coloring pages.
I have include coloring pages for the Dragon, Griffin, Unicorn, Sphynx and Cerberus.
I do not have coloring pages of the other creatures at this time, but you are welcome to us the Canva template to create your own.
If you are not able to create your own cards, then I recommend trying the Color Your Own Cards activity.
